Do companies conduct regular or scheduled inspections?
Since the inception of our company, a major portion of our clients have instituted Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM) electronic eavesdropping detection into their regular security programs. This practice began in earnest in the late 1980's when it became clear that information theft is a continuing problem that requires constant attention.
Instituting TSCM on a schedule is often done at the recommendation of security personnel and General Counsels or Attorneys. Corporations are concerned that not addressing this important security issue would be considered as negligence by stockholders.
It is actually quite rare to find a company which doesn't have some type of program for defense against electronic eavesdropping. Prevention and quick detection is preferable to potential sustained loses.
It is interesting that about 50% of corporate eavesdropping problems usually involve employees spying on their employers.
